Hapax legomena in the Book of Job and their Reception in East Slavic Bibles of the 15th–16th Centuries

The article deals with the lexical correspondences to Hebrew hapax legomena in Book of Job, presented translation Job into Ruthenian (prosta(ja) mova) as a part Vilnius Old Testament Florilegium (F 19–262) (approx. 1517–1533) and Bible by Francis Skoryna (1517–1519). Both versions are compared handwritten Church Slavonic Gennadius (1499) printed Ostrog (1581). Two Polish bibles — Radziviłł (Brest) (1563) Nesvizh (1568–1572) Symon Budny considered well. Special attention was given cases when translations biblical hapaxes were result prescriptive (conditioned canonical context traditional exegesis) activity translators. In such cases, knowledge implicit information that should be verified particular importance. On other hand, we analyze unfamiliar words resulting from conjectural variation, interpreted on basis grammatical syntactic norms according meaning context. Not devoid subjectivity, variants often transferred subsequent translations, turning dogmatized formulations. During historical development original language, individual entire text fragments partly compensate translator's lack necessary linguistic extralinguistic information. Thus, while working at end 15th–16th centuries, translators Grand Duchy Lithuania had solve number problems searching for their own translations’ interpreting "dark" passages need meet those normative guidelines dictated exegetical writings, authoritative texts.
